Dose of Tesoro Service

I got a good dose of Tesoro service today. I sent in my pretty old Golden Saber II and today which is Saturday, Rusty calls me to make sure I knew the Threshhold was turned all the way down. This Detector just would not turn on and I don't remember turning it all the way down but I may have, since I was trying to figure out why it would not turn on. Of course the On and Off switch was malfunctioning but after all these years some times things wear out.

I ordered a Golden Umax to use while I was waiting on the Saber to return. I still do not understand why everyone does not favor the Golden Umax. Mine detects deeper than I often want to dig, especially in these Gravel lots I hunt in. I don't really understand the Notch like I should on the Golden Umax and have found that the Detector will not pick up zinc Pennies if the Notch is set on Wide, but on Narrow it does tag the Zinc Pennies with a lower tone. I am finding that I can hear Tabs in the ground by listening for the tone and getting two good blips instead of one. I sweep slow in high trash. I do like the over load on cans and big iron this has saved a lot of digging. The over load will not activate on a Quarter laying on top. I just have no use for anybody too lazy to bend over and pick up money, even if it is a Zinc Penny.

Talking to Rusty I did find that the reason I liked the Golden Saber II so much was that it really did have a tone ID. Reading some old literature I found that the Detector only had two tones. One under the Discrimination setting and one over.

I am in the process of being Robbed right now. My Kids are blinking their eyes saying "Daddy please can I have that "old one" when it gets back. If that is not robbery, nothing else is.

A question does any other current, models of Tesoro have these tones, other than the olden Umax? I like the tones better than the Display by far.

And it had manual ground balance for extra depth....A much older model Golden Sabre Plus had the tones also but was the metal box mounted on top of the unit..

To me the Golden U-max is a love hate unit as to me just has too many tones and notches which roll into each other, however many learn to interpet the unit and excell.

As Far as Rusty Henry goes (priceless) as far as his info and Tesoro service..

I have pretty well got my Golden Umax figured out and I have found that I must operate it in the Narrow Notch. I dug so many Coins today I just had to quit. Found a couple of Six Flags tokens as well. These are the same size as Quarters. Found at least 30 Coins in about two hours.

I also went fishing today and caught 20 Bass. This has been my lucky day.
