Hey I just wanted to know if anyone has a new GB 2 or the original GB. I kinda want to see the comparison and how small a piece of gold they can detect. If anyone has any in site please feel free to post on this page. Thanks a bunch.

Jessgo33,

Yes I have a new Cabela's Gold Bug, not the S.E. one.
It will detect a 1 grain size flake of Gold. The 5"DD coil
will detect a 6 grain flake of gold at 5" Disc. and 6" in all metal mode.
This is an air test only.

Yes, the Gold Bug 2 does have a higher frequency which allows for better Gold detection.
However, it is not a good all-around detector compared to the regular Gold Bug. To each his own.

I have a GB 2 and depending on soil conditions it will find gold so small it can be difficult to find in the scoop. I don't have a weight on the smallest pieces I've found but nothing finds small gold like the GB 2. The 71 kHz operating frequency makes it extremely sensitive.
