I got out yesterday afternoon for some clad shooting at the local school yard. After some experimentation with low sensitivity, I thought " Hmmmmm.... what'll happen if I kick in the afterburners on the F-75" So... up, up, up went the sensitivity. In the De and 4h I managed to get 90 on the sensitivity dial with bearable chatter. WHEW! I got a LOUD quarter ID in the chip bark tot lot and thought "well, surface find" then a pull of the great pinpoint trigger and it said "12"... 12? and that strong of a signal? Needless to say, I was through the foot of chip bark and way into the red clay at its base... and yep, a quarter!(Now, I refuse to give the actual depth due to my sensitivity to name calling, but it was well past the 12" mark!) I did the same with a nickel and a dime, same depth. Then I thought, this is a LOT of work for clad! I do not recommend this for run-of-the-mill clad shooting, as the holes can be a bit ridiculous. However, due to another of the F-75's strong points, separation, I snagged another silver rosie dime in a ton of trash (machine gun audio during one swing, with one high coin tone speaking to me through the clutter)...

Once again, I continue to be amazed by this detector!

What mode were you hunting in, Motion Disc, Motion AM....?

I was hunting in Discrimination mode... 4h audio, De process. Disc set to 6, no notches. I like the 4h for this kind of hunting, as the high tones jump out at you... a clad hunters dream! By the way, I'm still gonna get you that Mason lodge photo! I just haven't been there to hunt yet....

p.s. Jerry Clower is my hero! :)

Mark,

We had a guest from Tatooine and he was using updated gear. Any relation? :starwars:

Thanks for the info and the pic Mark. I will give these settings a try.

That setting is HOT! I was experiencing some chatter (naturally for that high of a sensitivity), and I'm sure not all spots could handle that much heat... this was mainly for personal knowledge... and fun! Be prepared for some noise when you set it down to dig too!... Also, I manually Ground balanced (don't know if i needed to or not, just seemed like a good idea, as the chip bark is kinda strange on the GB sometimes...) Also, I'm not sure, but I think I was hitting on some low orbiting satellites when I pointed it skyward! ;)

You know those sand people...always jumping on the new technology!

(good job by the way... may I borrow it?)

(good job by the way... may I borrow it?)

It's all yours.

What mode are you settling towards? I've been keeping to default but I seem to hit nickels better in the bottle cap mode?? Haven't figuted that one out. May be because I notch in high nickels at "33". Now that I'm getting more used to the tones I may forget the notch entirely and rely on VDI to judge targets.

I'm mainly using de process, with 4h audio... However... I'm a compulsive fiddler! Each process mode and audio selection seems to bring about a new set of nuances and strengths... I think I'm gonna stick to this for a while, then change up on the audio to dp and see what happens. There was some initial talk that you lost "some" depth with dp, but I haven't seen it yet (in my local dirt). I have found that on a lot of sites, bc will quiet down the audio a bit... (don't know if it's cooling off the sensitivity to tiny targets or not...would bear testing I guess...)

and consider the new avatar officially adopted! (thanks!)
