When I was a kid, I had a friend that his dad owed a farm, and we used to run all over the farm. I remember a bunch of old bricks in this one field. I asked him if there used to be a building there one time, he said not that he knew of. welllllllll, today I went back in the field and started doin my thing. Found one a little older than I am. I got so excited when I saw the date. I licked the coin so I could see the date better. There was no water near where I was at. Field dirt doesn't taste that bad if there has been no livestock in the field for years.

180 years old.. "WOW"..Makes you wounder who the last Person was to touch it.Congratulations on a fantastic find and stop eatind field dirt,Just spit on it.LOL
pat

The dirt didn't taste too bad. I use to work in the hay fields on this same farm when I got older (round 12 or so). You eat a lot of dirt and dust workin on on farms. I know some of you guys can agree from first hand knowledge.

That's a beautiful coin. Congratulations!! You'll be hard pressed to find many "dug" coins in that good of a condition.

I scanned it onto our computer and it looks better on here than it does when I'm looking at it in my hand. Wonder why?

The Computer and the Scanner's light, enhance the image...great find, and she is in Pristine condition...It is rare to find one you can actually read the Liberty on...WTG!!!

See! I've told guys this is a good place to learn things. Where ya been? I haven't seen any posts from ya lately. Thanks again.

Well, I have been out of the loop for a bit...After getting a pistol pointed in my face for wandering on someones private property by mistake, I took a little breather (chicken shirt...lol). Now, the snow has started flying up here in NY, and I get reluctant to go out in the cold...On warm days if I get the time, I will be getting out again...Most of my finds of late have been total clad, and nothing of great interest...Without a car, my good places are getting inaccessible in the cold and wet, as I bike to most of them...it is a site to behold...lol...me on a mountain bike, with a big duffel bag on my back with all my gear...I also wear one of those water back packs for biking...So I am an interesting site at best...:bounty: :whites: :detecting:
