Don't take this as a negative or critical but I have a question

How is the 3030 different from the etrac. I know it's waterproof and it has a gps but what other differences are their?

And in regards to the gps does it help? Does it help you to do grid searches? Does it help allot with advanced site analysis? As in how many targets, how deep they, amount of questionable targets etc.

My you are a person of many questions......... Questions about the GPS will depend on your needs but as far as depth of the two units, the CTX seems to be a little deeper with better target ID and reliability. What is different? Everything, a CTX is NOT an E-Trac and the only thing I can think of off hand that is the SAME is the line 12 target ID system.

It'd be tough to find a bigger E-Trac fan than myself, but I've been digging up silver dimes in dry ground @ 7-9 inches. My hunting partner dug a dime up @ 11 inches. The CTX also was able to find the Buffalo nickel in my coin garden.....no other detector has been able to do that. I've had them all. I've tried the V3i, F75, Deus, ACE 350, E-Trac, and SE Pro. The nickel was buried in trashy area of my yard, purely by accident....lol...I had no clue as to how to plant a coin garden, but it became an effective test anyways.
As far as the GPS...I love it. When you find something nice, it keeps all of your settings, depth, etc.....and you can upload photo. It's great for mapping out an area and getting to all the spots.

I personally don't really care for the GPS and other new stuff.

I am a HUGE fan of the added recovery speed, target trace, combined audio, ability to hunt and see around iron better and its much improved target ID at depth.

Did you mean to say the CTX gave a better signal than the list of other detectors?
If no other machine would report anything then you now have something. I presently use the Etrac and befor that the F75. Interesting.

I hear ya Bart!---Gimme the raw, improved performance.-----Speakin of new stuff--I've got a wrist watch on my wrist---what's to need a clock on the thing??---Besides that, I (we) don't even want to know what time it is when we're metal detecting--right? :)

I had planted a coin garden. In it was a buffalo nickel, but all my other detectors could never find it. I've owned all the detectors below. The only detector to get a hit on it was the CTX.....the area is very trashy but the CTX clearly picks it out.

I love the ctx 3030 ....i used the etrac and many other detectors and pounded this site we got over 50 silvers and countless wheats Indians large cents etc and we haven't been getting any more signals nothing at all and we went slow real slow and nothing. When i got the ctx 3030 i went back to the site and i tried the places at the site that where real trashy where i had no luck with other detectors but with the ctx 3030 i got 4 more wheats and a button and the wheats had iron in the hole with them there was iron all over the place and the ctx 3030 rang out like the wheats were all alone the ctx 3030 target separation is awesome and ids great and this was a quick hunt cant wait to see what else i can find next time

You are getting the same results I am.. My first couple of hunts were in pounded yards and the signals were mostly strong and still pulled a several missed coins and relics...
