Don't pass up a 28 reading on a F-70.

I had an important union meeting to go to after work. I didn't have time to go home, but that gave me a half an hour to MD a park. I hit the tot lot first. Got plenty of clad. Than I saw a pile of dirt from where they were making a new basketball court. Got some clad there also. I had to go by that time. I started walking toward the car with the coil down. I can stand to think I might be missing something. I got a solid 28 on my F-70. I love high foil, nickel readings. Many times it is a Ladies gold ring. Possibly ice? Men's rings seem to read 32 and up. I have gotten other gold rings this way. I rechecked it and it wouldn't move from 28. Another good sign and it sounded right. Don't asked me, I just know the sound. This is what popped out. A 10k gold ring with three diamond chips. Too bad it is only 10k, but a ring is a ring.

John that is a nice ring. That f70 is a worker. Great detecting....Z

The foil meter region will get you about 1/3 of the gold rings found. And yep because they are heavier than foil just sound different to an experienced ear. Indeed a nice find..

And the audio on foil tends to fade out faster - it doesnt remain solid, once you raise your coil a bit.

When you say foil, are you speaking of kitchen foil? Chewing gum wrappers?

Yep. Foil is the reading below nickel. Many people don't like to dig in the foil range for obvious reasons. This year I have gotten 18k gold rings and a 18k gold chain in the foil range. The small gold hits there. The larger gold will hit on nickel and higher depending on how large the gold is. The alloyed is also an important factor making the signal go higher.

If I am around a swing, especially a toddler's swing, I dig all foil signals.
