hi there, can someone who has experience with underwater metaldetectors please tell me what the best underwater metaldetector is for finding gold, im looking to buy one but dont know much about underwater detectors. thank you.

minelab excalibur unless you want to spend more than$1100.00 real easy to use,is built strong is loud, goes deep and you can understand what you want to dig by the sound very easy. someone might suguest something else. but i know this machine and have had a gp2200, gp 3000.explorer pro excaluber, dfx and a couple more which arent underwater but the sounds and the way they work i feel are alot harder. the excalibur is a supper machine with rechargable battery. the only things i dont like is the weight, which you can get a hip mount, lighter underwater and the headphones are connected to the machine. you can get a water proof connector put into the line ,but it voids the warrenty. hope this helps. at least its a start and gives you something to think about

BC,

There are plenty of good detectors out there... There is the Excal, the BeachHunter, CZ20, Detector Pro, even a PI but with a PI I wouldn't use it in the dry/wet sand... I own a PI and hunt strictly in the water... With a PI you will find every tiny piece of junk especially if you detect dry/wet sand, ... You don't have to spend a $1000 or more to find gold. Researching beaches and learning to read a beach especially in the water will factor into whether you are successful or not. All detectors are going to find trash because gold falls into the same VDIs as aluminum its part of the game :)

You can go with a machine that has disrimination or one without such as a PI its up to you.

THE BEACH HUNTER ID OR THE PI PRO ARE MY CHOICES THERE BY WHITES. I HUNT SALT/FRESH OUT TO NECK DEEP . IF YOU DON'T PLAN TO USE IT ON THE BEACH(OUT OF THE WATER) GET THE PI PRO. IF YOUR GONNA HUNT WET/DRY SAND AND WATER GET THE BEACH HUNTER ID,ITS GOOD ON LAND TOO.
