There must be. It would be hard for me to help from Wa st. though. Find yourself a club or local detector shop to find some pointers.

Successful metal detecting relies on three main ingredients: A metal detector, operator skills and a place to hunt. Anywhere people have congregated is a candidate for a good hunt. Beaches, parks, private yards, school yards, church yards, boulevards, fair grounds, athletic fields, picnic areas etc etc etc. After you get your detector, take it out in your own yard and learn the proper way to set the controls and what it takes to detect the types of targets you want to find. Build yourself a coin garden and practice, practice, practice. Once you understand how to maximize the detector's performance, expand your search area by first obtaining permission from the property owner. Understand that your detecting habits reflect on thousands of fellow detectorists. Following the Metal Detector's Code of Ethics is a must. HH Randy

Hi. I have spent many weeks in NJ on business and if had a detector i would have gone to the south sandy flats. You know that is the home of the Jersey devil. Not many people have visited this vast area.
