back towards the end of april I asked about a certain brand of rechargeables to run in their explorers..Gotta tell ya.. great bang for the buck.. More then 10 hrs of hunting with them so far and just shy of the mid point.. If they last 18-20 hrs... I'm estatic...can be charged 1500 times ( manufacturers claim )... thats abunch of huntn for sure..

Mark --

I actually took an old, worn-out rechargeable pack to Interstate Battery, and asked them to install new AA rechargeables into the pack. They did so -- pried open the battery pack, took out the "guts" (which were basically AA batteries), and put in some new ones -- I think 2100 mAh. Then glued the pack back together. AWESOME. Lasts WAY longer than a standard Explorer rechargeable pack, and uses the same adapter/charger.

I got the work done for $30 (which included the cost of the batteries). Can't beat that!

You must be talking about Eneloop slow discharge batteries. For AAs I don't use anything else, you can go 3 hunts weeks appart and have high contrast, a big coil and the display lit the whole time... without recharging.
