Don't buy INB certified coins !!

I'm sorry that I have to bring this up. Anytime that someone decides to buy certified (professionally graded) coins, be sure to do your research before you spend your hard-earned money. I'm not going to blame anyone but myself because this is clearly something I should have done and I learned a valuable lesson today because of it. After doing some searching, and I did'nt have to look far, I am discovering that INB is simply a self-slabber who grades nearly all of their coins at PR-70 or MS-70. Simply put..another case of something that is too good to be true. Anyone who collects coins knows, and I should have known better, that MS-70 and PR-70 coins for that matter, are simply not that common. On a positive note, the specimen I ended up with is still worth it's weight in silver and I paid a fair price. So although I am happy with my new coins, I am also a bit wiser than yesterday. In writing this I had no intention of ruffling anyones feathers. Just thought you should all get a "heads-up" ...

Also, I will certainly be a little more vigilant here. And if I see anyone else trying to pass these "un-certified" coins along to unsuspecting buyers I will send the prospective buyer along a PM with a warning. Will the moderators of this forum please let me know if I am out of line here. And I will promptly shut my mouth from this point forward.

Yours in liberty,

David McCarthy

It is my duty to all coin collectors everywhere to end the life of this "un-certified" coinholder. It will no longer be able to put another "sucker" stamp on someone's forehead. I'm still trying to wash the ink off of mine ..

Buying slabbed coins is always risky because you are buying someones "opinion". To be safe, always use your own opinion because that is the only one that counts. There are many, many third party grading services, most of them worthless............ but the recognized and respected top four in the industry are PCGS, ICG, NGC and ANACS. As the old saying goes............ buyer beware.

I was advised a reputable seller will, (Once you have a standing open account with them) send coins for your approval for purchase.

My father-in-law used to buy this way. I never have bought this way..but it is worth checking out I would think.

Thanks guys. I don't plan on parting with it anytime soon. I guess I just wanted folks to know that I would not re-sell this coin the way I bought it.

Larry is right about the "Big Four" and even then I have taken exception to their grading . I bought 9 Gold coins from a Big National dealer all graded by ONE of them all MS 66 US Double Eagles. Well the obvious differnces in the quality of coins that were delivered to me was so wide I caled the Boss at the company I bought them from and he said to send them back . Well at that point I told him I would rather have a face to face . He said sure and we set a meet.
He was PISSED! So mad that he bought me a room at Comfort Inn , fed me and I stayed over night . He ordered 45 coins of that grade be brought the next day by special courier . We sat down and he hand sorted problem coins out and I chose 4 new ones from the 12 left when he was done.
As I understand he raised hell with that Grading service and sent LOTS of coins back to be re graded.

Not sure you are asking me what service or not . If so let me know and I will PM you... Don't want to bag them by name in public
