After getting a coins all hit started to dig and the pinpoint moved( usually a sign of a rusty nail) it just sounded too sweet and only covered a small area, so I dug a double plug and dug the 6 inch target. Out came a 1952 silver roosie and a big fat rusty nail so indeed do be careful lest you miss a nice coin. I guess one has to check all aspects and might put an asterick on the pinpoint move tip..Really had a good day as I finished with a 51 and 52 Roosie, 08 Barber Dime, 17 Merc. and a 29 walking half and 8 wheaties..yep CZ's rock...

Yeah, I had that happen to me last week. The coin sound, sounded to good next to the iron sound. So I dug pulled a pre '82 Licoln and a complimentary rusty nail. This is with the 5 in. coil btw. Just goes to show Dan it's not the detector, but the person behind it...Congrats on the silver...HH

way to go Dan.thats some day and a very good tip to keep in mind. The wheatie I dug the other day was in with a rusty nail, took a bit to find it.Dont rmember how close they were:))

Many of my silver coins last year, and definitely my two halves, had nails with them. I'm not sure what it was that told me to dig, but dig I did, and was rewarded for it. Working the iffy targets in junky areas has been paying off lately.

I was using the 10.5" coil and I had a coin hit. When I went to pinpoint, it was all over the place but the hit was too good to pass up. I used the null type of pinpointing where you place the coil over where you think the target is and then push the pinpoint button. I was able to narrow down one signal. I dug 2 wheats together. I still had a coin hit. Pinpointed in a slightly different area. When all was said and done, I dug 5 wheats out of a 8" area. The wandering pinpoint almost made me not dig.
Sounds like you had a good day Dan. Why not post the pics so the rest of us can enjoy it with you?
