Done with tumbling !

I'm done with thumbling... at least for the moment. There might be one or two more hunts, but i guess season is about over. Gee did I had a lot to do! Althoug my chart said that i gather a bit more than 865$ this season, i ended up with a little more than 840$. The rest was taken away by the wife who needed a little change for cofee from time to time.
It took me a little more than a week at free time to tumble the whole lot! Pennies are taking longer time to clean up so i usually leave them overnight.
I stopped using sand in the tumbler because canadian clads aren't too shiny that way. Instead i just put a few glass marble and beads. I add water, a little CLR and liquid laundry soap. My tumbler is pretty small, so that means more loads and less coins on eatch batch. Found a couple of silvers and foreign coins in the lot.
I whish i could see people's face when they recieve pennies from the 40's in their change ! That money and the gold will be kept aside and sold later to help pay for winter vacations!
I finally broke my gold record and got 71 this season. I'm still equal to my previous record on silver, but i just need one more to beat it... and i intend to do so. Got 184 rings this year, only 4 large cents and the oldest coin is only 1911. I must admit i didn't do mutch relic hunt this year.
Have fun, this is a very rewarding hobby !

Beads ??? What's your secret? I've been tumbling for years, using aquarium gravel (the small sharp-edged colored stones work best for me), some dish detergent, and sometimes "cream of tarter" from the wife's baking stuff. My problem is that sometimes my clad comes out PINK, I imagine from the copper.
I am always looking for new ideas. Looks like it was a busy year for you JHinPA
