I had a couple hours to spare after a short morning of work, so I dropped by a park/former homesite to get in some detecting. Quickly ground balanced and off I went. After just a couple minutes I thought things were a little weird. Seems like the targets were EVERYWHERE, and none of them repeating. Since I was hunting in an area that I hadn't hit yet, I figured it was just the ground/trash acting up. Not to mention my battery meter had just dropped to "one bar" After about 30 minutes and only 2 shallow memorial pennies, I really got aggrivated. I decided I'd check all my settings and see what was up. Lets see...Sensitivity 10, Volume 4. WHAT???? That's backwards of how I usually set it! Turns out that in my hurry to get swinging, I reduced VOLUME instead of sensitivity after ground balancing!!!! I went ahead and switched out the batteries, put the settings they way they were supposed to be, and finally got to it. An hour later had 3 wheaties and some clad.
So lesson learned. Don't hurry with the settings! Double check!

Happy hunting all!

what to do with it. Bury it back in the ground? or stick it in your pocket with the chance of getting caught with drug paraphernalia.I decided to bust it up with a hammer and throw the bits in the garbage. The local police department would have taken it in, but why bother those guys with additional paperwork.
