You didn't mess around on the detector ... that's for sure.
The x-terra 70 looks to be a great machine.. wish I had one.
I may have missed this ... but where do you live?
Every time I've moved I go thru depression trying to find new spots to detect. It just takes time and you have to be patient.
It's too hot right now anyway.... October rules !!
Let people know about your new hobby........ Once people find that you are detectorist they will start telling you about the old homestead on their property.....Everyone has a story. Play your cards right and you will be detecting those sites before long.
There are a million ways to ask for permission to a site.
My best rule of thumb =
always be polite and courteous
don't take rejection personal ... ask again a few months later.
Bring gifts ... (IE: old lady owns property.. show up with flowers.)
Always fill holes and never leave a trace you were there.
I ALWAYS ask for an open invitation to detect a site a lot and any time I want.... I explain that because of ever-changing soil conditions I might not find much today ... and 3 weeks (or months) later when conditions are different I might find something. Repetition truly pays off in detecting. I've never had a landowner tell me "only today".
FYI-- When My ol lady got on me about buying my excalibur (years ago) I reminded her that this is a far less expensive hobby than most guys have. I could be going for hot rods or motorcycles... (or strippers)
Hang in there,
HH
