Doesn't anyone like to show their finds?

I think it is interesting to see what people find in the areas they live in. Mine is always a mix, but rarely anything great.

Still learning and going over places I hunted out.

It amazes me how well the 6.5 X 3.25 coil does. F-70 started getting noisy so I reset it and it settled down. Neat trick.

I found a gun right a way.

And this unknown piece of metal. Looks to be copper or brass.

A furnace token from Martin's Ferry, Ohio.

Yep the F70 is the new kid on the block and as I predicted once the input and little tricks start rolling in members will become more efficient with its operation and the good finds will start rolling in also...So if you have any input forum members would like to hear it as thats the way we all learn...

It is just a bunch of new stuff.

I am not daunted. I have found much older things. I actually found a coin from the 1700's. Pretty good for being on the wrong side of the Appalachians.

I always think it is interesting the things people find. I wish the people of this forum would post more of there finds. The good, bad and the ugly.

By the way, I got skunked at an old abandoned farm house yesterday built in the 1800's. Plenty of targets. Just all new.

Very cool finds John . I enjoy seeing other people's finds also .Not only do I enjoy finding stuff but I love taking picture's to post . Posting my finds without
picture's would really be a drag . I enjoy Bill Ladd's and Lo-Boy's videos as well . :clapping:

okay I,m new to forum but not detecting, although almost all of my experiance is in gold prospecting so anyways about 2 weeks ago I traded 1 of my goldbug2s to richard@ backwoods for a F5, by the way super guy to deal with, thanks richard and this is for you to buddy ! so as I am still up in spokane, gettin ready to head for quartszite for winter, I 've been playin around with it learnin how it works( little bit different than the machines I'm used to) but I gotta say I think it is an excellent machine, I mean really, for the price it's one of the best values I have received on anything lately!.So I went lookin at old maps and decided to head down spokane river to where I figured I was in vicinity of original fur trading post(hard to do!) and after spending most of 2 days tryin to imagine where old trails would have been by lay of land and detecting same, I finally cut back down towards river about noon sunday and had barely started on 3rd little cove when wham!! I get an 84, using all metal but the volume is pretty weak, so I start diggin( still diggin everything) so right at 11" up comes this! I don't think it is real old but it is 64.6 grams sterling silver w/ 3 oblong black onyx stones.
So to put it mildly I'm pretty happy! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

don't get me wrong, I had a backpack nearly full of junk, before this not one thing worth anything, not so much as a penny to show! is that weird or what?
like I said I've always hunted for gold and once I learned, nearly always come up with at least color, but am still learning id type machine, I might not have dug this with gb just by sound although thats how I've been using it and then lookin at display.

thanks, but two things mystify me about this, I am no judge of jewelry but I just don't get the feeling that this is REAL old I don't know anything about markings on it,so just a feeling now, but surely 11" of dirt strata goes back some ways? and if it got deep because of river action how come all the stones are still in it? any idea's?

Maybe the dirt was moved? Maybe area regraded? Maybe someone buried it to keep it safe?

Thats the 'fun' part of the hobby when we try to figure out how in the heck things ended up being where they are found. Alot of the finds make no sense at all.

Jewelry is always interesting because every piece is sooo unique, unlike coins.

haa! no bones, but after digging it I really went over that patch of ground, the only other things I found were a considerable amount of leaad birdshot! don't even want to think about that:clsoedeyes:

I agree with John. That seems to be an unusually high quality casting. My wild stab in the dark is 1920's, but DO find out before you scrap it!

that's part of the odd thing if you look at these pics it's not cast, the main piece is solid band that has carved reliefs on edges, then all the leaves&flowers&stems are made of separate shapes of silver pieces then I guess soldered onto main band, but incredibly well done so you can't see the solder. the more I look at it the more I can see very nice craftsmanship. As to scrapping, are you kidding ? my wife would kill me!
