Does your White's detector have this problem?

This is the second time that I have had a cuff break. When it breaks your hunt is over. The way it is attached leaves a lot to be desired. The single bolt design is sloppy and is always working loose. Has anyone had this problem and what did you do to solve the problem? HH Dennis in Idaho

Never had one break on any of my Whites. I don't see where I put that much pressure on that part. Rob

...with a stainless steel one that a guy makes and sells on ebay. Do a search and you will find it. Costs about $30. Whenever I get a new machine the first thing I do is take the factory one off and replace it with this one. Then, if I sell the machine, I put the factory one back on it and keep the SS one to reuse. Good Luck!

I contacted white's with the problem and today they contacted me and advised me that a replacement is in the mail. How is that for service? HH Dennis in Idaho

White's service is top notch. Like I told you earlier the only other solution I know is a Excalibur plastic arm rest would fit, but lacks the strap.

Mine never broke, but had a tendency to loosen up. Solved that by drilling a hole through the cuff and rod about an 1 1/2" back from the factory nut. Put a screw, lockwasher, and nut on it. No problems for 2 yrs. now. Cheap too. About 25 cents.

I did the same as Krazyglue; drilled a hole in the rod and attached another screw, using the preexisting holes in the arm cuff as a template. I did this because the arm cuff would squeak slightly at the end of each sweep, but never broke. The extra screw/nut stopped the squeaking and makes the arm cuff sturdier.

I tried the after market stainless steel version sold on eBay, too. It's sturdy and well-made, but I thought it made the detector heavy. The White's arm cuff is made of light weight aluminum.

White's sells the arm cuffs on their web site in some accessory rod packages, but should offer them as a single accessory at a lower price. Since they will send you a free one to replace a broken one, all the better.

You are obviously finding too much treasure, getting excited, tossing the poor baby in the air and letting it land too hard. Calm down ole buddy. If that doesn't work, ask White's to send you another and use the fixes the others have sworn to. HH :)

I made a few from thin wall 4" pvc, these thing's ben but don't brake,I also made the cup a little longer it fits my arm a lot better.I have a prizm 3,but maybe you could get the spacer like on the prizm or make a spacer then just screw the pvc cup on,good luck.

I broke my arm cuff almost 2 weeks ago. i emailed white's as instructed to by a few users on the forum. I have sent 3 emails and havent recieved one response;let alone a cuff replacement.Im disappointed to say the least.

Call Whites and ask for Steve Howard. He will fix you up without hesitation. Maybe something went wrong with the email. HH Dennis in Idaho
