Rangers Lead The Way

:usaflag:A while back my wife came home with a '54 silver quarter and a '60 silver dime in her pocket change. I could detect for a month and never find that.

I went detecting outside A little town just south of here yesterday for an hour. ( my only find was a #4 sleigh bell) when I was done I pulled in to a gas station to get something to drink. while the lady was ringing me up I noticed the little penny dish on the counter had 5 penny's in it and they were all wheat. I asked the lady if I could buy them she said sure. I didn't have a nickel so I gave her a dime and took the penny's. when I got home I checked the dates,1- 1950D, 2-1951D,and 2-1957D. nothing special but I got that little rush when I saw those wheat's. Ranger if you call yours " finds" I'll call mine finds. I just can't bring myself to put them in with the few wheat's I have dug. Blade310.

In my book and in my opinion I'd say this;

When you are out detecting................you are looking for treasure
When you were looking in the penny tray............you were looking for treasure, maybe not consciously but your brain was looking
When you checked your change...............you were looking for treasure.........for what other reason would you count penny's?

So, you were looking for treasure in all three of these scenarios. Annnnnd in the last two you found it.

I'd say that's successful treasure hunting guys!
Count them!

A few years back I was bartending parttime and someone handed me three 1943 steel pennys. Needless to say, I dug three subs out of my pocket and the three 43's went home with me. I still have them.

Yeah my wife used to manage a big cafeteria in a high rise downtown and she was always bringing old coins and silver home.

I know as a detectorist, I am always looking at the ground. I see coins from time to time on the ground in and around shopping areas. No matter if it is a penny or not I pick it up and consider it a find. Do you guys pick up coins on the ground that you see? Or do you just keep walking by?

You sound just like me !!! When I walk anywhere, I always scan the ground. I can't believe the amount of pocket change there is in some parking lots. And although I'm not using my detector, if I pick it up, it counts as a "find" and goes into the "found" container.
