No, but don't let that keep you from getting one. A killer machine, great depth!!! I just use my MXT to scout with now, good to about 6" where I have to "Milk" a good siginal bouncing from low to high tone. The X70 with the 10.5 DD 7.5 khz takes over from there getting me good signals to 11-12" on 3 ringers. Better depth than the Whites with the Super 12 .....................Mark

I guess a backlight would be beneficial at times, but when I hunt at night I always run in 28 tones. I've learned what numbers correlate to the tones, so I don't need to look at the meter. My last detector with a backlight made me night blind every time I looked at it.

No backlight. I use a miners LED headlamp, 14 LED's, 3 AAA batteries and they last a very long time. Worth the $15.00 I paid. HH, MIke
