does the cold affect battery or is it just me

went out in temps around 35 and only got a few hours in and battery went dead (alki rechargables)
so put in stock nicad and the same thing, took them home and recharged both went out Sunday and the same thing.

yup the cold cuts back a bit, but should last more than 2 hours.. you using a smart charger or the one that came with the explorer? could be they need to be recycled or full charged
 
I have seen the same thing. I get no battery life and I have seen 2 hours like you. Then I went out in the afternood when it was warmer, it went back to normal. Plus it seemed to me that the machine was also more stable when warm.
 
but it might be that the NiMHd batteries were not fully charged. It showed about 80% of the bar, but I got less than two hours. They're charging up now and I'll check them out on Wednesday.

I'm using Nimh and don't get the reported 11 hours out of them. Battery is at half strength after 2 hours, never hunted more than 5 and it was close to being out of juice. temps are about 40. HH
