Does Tesoro require proof of being the original owner to get a detector fixed?

I know Tesoro's warranty says it only cover the "original owner". Do they require you to show proof of being the original owner to get a repair done free?

Thanks

When I sent in my Amigo II a few years ago they asked over the phone, I told them no and it was $50 to have it serviced.

Yup. If there's no card on file in your name, it's $50+

If you bought it new, you should have filled out the card and mailed it in. They keep that and the serial number on file with your name. I sent in an old one a few years ago. I called them first. I gave them the serial number and they said that I was the original owner. So check up and repair was free... That is what that card is for... KEN

Excellent advice Ken & exactly what I was going to say.-----Get that warranty card sent in asap & there will be no problems.----I think the warranty card states it needs to be sent in within 10 days of purchase.-----Original owner & lifetime warranty---how can ya beat that!----------Del

No card os required - per Federal law on warranties.

Having said that, it's an easy way to establish you as the original owner. Another way is your receipt from the dealer you bought it from.

If you still have the card you can send it in with the machine and they will honor it. Got lucky with one of my units, 10 years old but had the card. Sent it in and I'm now the original owner.
As long as your name is on the card, you get the warranty.
