Does Tesoro honor lifetime warranty on buying a used detector?

I'm looking at a Stingray that's not working. If they don't do you have any idea how much a repair might be?

Thanks,
Rick

They have at times, but is their option. Depending on the job could be a big factor as well as the price to fix can fluctuate greatly. A water detector not working, unless you know for sure what it is, can be more than you bargin for if it's duty to water entery, etc... Personnally, it's worth saving a little more and buy a fully functional detector. That is my 2 cents

rick i have a bid on that 1 & its gonna be a risky deal :stars:

I looked at the one there selling, might be a good deal and just need a good cleaning because the batterys leaked & carroded the connectors.

Top cap looked like it had stress cracks in the corners (side view), maybe thats why they changed the design of the clamps (to wrap around on top design to spread the pressure on the plastic lid) on the new models.

Good luck guys.

The short answer is NO. You are not the original owner, the detector you are buying was made (STINGRAY 1991 - 1995; STINGRAY II 1995 - 1999) a long time ago! Why not call Robert at Tesoro, robert@tesoro.com
928-771-2646 and ask him? He'll talk to Rusty, and they will give you a guesstimate.

I agree that you are looking at a pretty risky deal. The battery leakage will be considered by Tesoro to be a form of abuse,as it well is, and fully understandable if they did not agree to do the repair. As with most repairs, 1st, 2nd, 3rd,or 15th owner, Tesoro generally repairs whatever need to be done and no questions asked,(at no charge ) so long as there is no aparrent abuse involved. Battery leakage is unexcuseable and is true abuse. I would suggest you make a phone call and talk to someone at Tesoro, Rusty Henry, if you can get him , and see what his thoughts on the matter would be. You would likely be better off to go the route of getting a useable machine, and forego all the hassel of what you are looking at. HH, Charlie
