Does Platinum show up as Foil?

Hey All, I have a platinum ring to look for with the yella fella and was wondering how it's going to show up? Any body out there find one?

According to someone on the Whites Testimonial "platinum ring rang in with a pop-top value. Always check those pop tops sounds a second time, you never know what you'll be missing!"

Didn't know folks in "semo" had enough money to buy a platinum ring. You could wait till I get back from vacation so I can unlimber my 2500 on it.

Thanks to all, I went today and found 1/2 pound of aluminum and a couple of dimes......I reckon I'll wait on my Louisiana Buddy to get back up here to search it out. Ace250semo.

The best way to find the ring would be to take the detector with you to a jewelry store. Call ahead and explain what you are intending to do. This way you will not frighten a clerk who may not have seen a metal detector before. Pick out a few platinum rings similar in weight, size, and shape to the one lost. find an area of the store free of metal. (good luck with this). With your sensitivity down all the way to eliminate erratic readings from metal and electical interference from inside the store, scan the rings noting where they read on the scale. You may need to do the test outside of the store if the detector is too erratic. I am sure the clerk or owner would be happy to assist since it is for a good cause.

You can use the DISCRIM button to eliminate all other targets so that only the intended target sounds. I dont recommend this, however. If you notch every other signal out you may miss some nice surprises. It wouldn't be a bad thing finding a seated dime while looking for your friends ring.
