Does Garrett ever explain what was wrong with your detector?

I bought the AT Pro with 5x8 coil last August, and used it pretty heavily until the snow fell in December. I only used the 5x8 coil, never the stock one during that time. It worked pretty well initially, but slowly started to degrade in performance. I read on this forum that people send their detector back for a "tune up" at the end of their season. I don't know what that really means, but I did it anyway. I shipped them my detector with the 5x8 coil and got it back a few days ago. They gave me a new coil, and I can tell they opened up the detector because the new faceplate they put on isn't sticking properly on the left side (not happy), however there is no note saying what may have been wrong. Is that common practice with Garrett? I would have liked to know if there really was something wrong, or if it was all in my head.

Mine didn't have an explanation either, only a parts list of things they changed

Send me a PM and I'll tell you about my phone conversation a couple of days ago.
