Does anyone use the X70 on the beach?

I need advice on using the xterra 70 on the wet sand! Works great in dry sand but when i get into the wet stuff my x70 goes crazy! I use the beach setting, adjust GB, and Noise cancel. But nothing seems to work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Try turning your sens down to the single digit range. This may help. I know you will loose depth but you may be able to hunt at least, Beale.

All single frequency VLF's do not work well in wet saltwater sand.

You may want to invest in a FBS or BBS machine like a used second-hand Minelab Sovereign(maybe $350-$450) for a good lower price specifically for those wet saltwater sand beaches.

I tried an X-Terra 50 and F75 in the So Cal wet sand and couldn't hunt because of all the falsing. Maybe if I would have dropped the sensitivity A LOT they would have been stable, but since I'm competing for treasures against other detectorists, I bought a used Minelab Safari that works great in mineralized wet sand.

If I am going to use my X Terra 70 in wet sand, I make sure I am using one of the DD coils. Now, the 5x10 DD and the 10" DD cant be used in the water, so one needs to be careful, but I have found either works ok
in wet sand where there is black sand. Need to turn the sensitivity down a bit, but I have found good stuff with the X Terra in wet sand.

HAVE YOU TRYED GROUND BALANCING ON THE WET SAND AREA BEFORE START HUNTING THAT AREA?

ya ive done every thing. Wish i could get it to work in the wet stuff. i dont really want to buy another machine. The x 70 is great in the dry stuff!!!! Found ring #5 today in the dry stuff.

Hi
I use the x70 on the beach all the time and have had success in the wet sand. I use both the 18.75 elliptical and the 18.75 6in coils. ( The 6in is waterproof the elliptical is not)

The HF coils quieten the x70 in the wet sand to a point that I can detect. I usually have my Sens on 18, beach mode on and tracking on. I still have a bit of ground noise but any targets are easy to hear.

The state I live in has only around five hundred thousand head of population, so the beaches aren
