Does anyone use the PP on a Tesoro?

I played around with a Vaquero the other day. The only advantage I see it for is AM. Tesoros are so fast, I think the PP button is a waste of space. James and Vince must have put it there just to say it has one like other manufacturers do, but the others need them. Tesoro's don't, IMO.

Only when I get an "iffy" signal that I think is deep. Other than that I dont ever use it on my Cibola...d2

I don't use PP for fin pointing.

I use it to ID targets.

The button just gives you quick in and out.

It is real fast and that's why I like it.

It is different from the Euro or Eldorado.

They have a switch.

To me, my Euor and my Vaquero are just

two different ways to hunt in the many

different kinds of environments I get into.

HH,

I only use it for ground balancing , I think it's a waste to , all the Tesoros that I have owned none of them have needed a PP

It seems the PP on the V and AM switch on my Deleon, does the same thing, except for the threshold. Does the disc control work in the PP mode? Forgive me for not seeing it, but it would seem that thumbing the disc control would help ID while in the dics mode, then the PP button is pushed to listen to the loudest point to center the target. While I played with a target with the V, I found the disc mode faster and more accurate on a coin, than using the PP, similar to the Deleon and the Bandido II I used to have. It just seems to me that the switch like the bandido II had would be better than the PP button, as you could leave it in AM rather than holding down a button for the same purpose.

The Whites and Garretts I played with needs the PP button because the targets didn't seem to "beep as fast as Tesoros. Now the trigger on the Tejon makes sense. I guess I'm just an old timer. The switch makes more sense to me.

Hay HighTone,

Have you ever been going along and got a good hit and it turns
out to be the corner of a sheet of metal for a sign or flashing, Etc?

If that happens to me it's just because I did not take the time to ID
the target. It's so fast to ignore some aspects of a target's response.

The TID machines I've had, had trouble with a lot of things that are
obvious with the Vaquero.

But if you want to try to ID signs, beer cans, buried cables, size
and depth and there is so much to learn about the machine, then
you have to like it, I guess.

I don't get fooled by a lot of things that others say, give them a fits.

The Vaquero has a real neat All metal Mode that can be accessed
by turning the discrimination knob all the way down until it clicks.
You will then be in a threshold based All Metal Mode that does
not require the red push button to be held down.

The Vaquero was designed to supply the people who think they
need a pin pointer button while supplying a full time All Metal
Search Mode.

It's a very useful design and a pleasure to use.

It's just different than the switch.

Good Luck,

Happy Hunting,

I just use it to ground balance it, then I supertune it.

Sorry about that.

I'm lucky just to sit up.

Let alone make any sense,

The only thing that bothers me about ID'ing that way is when I was using a CZ-5, the big target alert went off. Checking it in pinpoint ,it was HUGE. A month later, I came back w/a Garrett 350 and sure enough the target sent the detector into "enormosity", but the ID said just above $1. I grabbed my larger screwdriver, expecting to have to pry a beer can out of the hole and it was 8 quarters-my personal 'quarter best'. The machine lied, though. It was $2-not $1.25!
