Does Anyone Own A 8x10EclipseDD and what are your comments

Its apparent that I need to preview my post. Thanks for your opinions, I hunt red clay nc soils mostly and would like to know if the large DD coil has any advantage for a relic hunter.

You are going to have to find some coils to tryout. Otherwise you won't get a direct answer only peoples opinions. Monte uses smaller coils and likes excelerator coils. I also use these coils and like them but some people will tell you they are junk ( one in particular.)

I don't have the 6x10 or the 14". If you do a search for these coils you will get varied opinions. Some I have read claim a small depth gain but better coverage with the 14" but you will find posts that say it is DEEP. You will find posts saying they never take the 6x10 off their detector because it is so good.

You really need to try them yourself in that NC dirt. The 14" will be hard to swing in brush but will work in open areas. No coil will work the best in all soils, trash, brush, etc. Each has their place. Rob

Michael, coil selection usually breaks down into two categories, in your case three.

1. In high mineralization, DD coils will usually out perform concentric's. Medium, a draw and low mineralization, concentric's win.

2. The more trash you are hunting in, the smaller the coil is usually better.

3. You have White's bucks to spend.

Rob is right on, on all points. If you have a local club or two, ask around and see what the pros are hunting with and take their advise.

Hi Mike

Did some air tests(if that counts) on the factory 9.5 and factory 14'DD. Don't have my notes any more for all the variables I tested but, will sum it up for you what facts I found:

At factory presets the DD was equal and a little better sometimes to the 9.5 on @ max settings for sensitivity. Do not have any info on the mineralization thing but like the DD for the area I can cover in one sweep. Deep? oh my gosh! I hit a relic at the length of my arm and had to shove my shoulder in the hole to touch it. I run the coil at max settings unless I need to back off to presets or get an idea of depth by backing off sensitivity. A little heavy on the arm, but I could still go all day. The MXT is an awesome machine and has no rivals. A fast tracker and ultra fast recovery.
