Not sure if this question was ever asked, and I probably should ask Tesoro themselves, but here goes.

Now that the new Tigers and Sandsharks are going to be hardwired, what happens if an older unit needed repair ? Would it still have the capability to swap out coils ?

I will assume it's like any other U/W detector, you unsolder the searchcoil leads from the PCB and unscrew the cable connector like the Surfmaster PRO PI, pull out the cable
and attach the new coil..resolder..... won't be as easy as unscrewing a coil connector.

Probably a factory job to protect the integrity of the unit rel it not leaking, but imagine a learned individual could do it..Certainly won't be able to switch back and forth at will..
Personally with Tesoro's service a no brainer to send in....

Would think that as long as the issue that needs repair is not the coil or either connector, there would be no issue with keeping the connector to allow coil inter-changing.

I think there is no need to speculate, just call the Factory in Prescott, and speak to Rusty Henry. Cheers! - Terry
