Does anyone know when the 5900 DI pro sl came out and when they quit making it?

travis,

My 5900 Di Pro SL is the last (CB) version and was made in 1994, if that is any help.

I think the 5900 Di Pro came out about 1986.

No, the 5900 Di Pro isn't the same detector as the 5900 Di Pro-sl.
Actually there is near 10 years difference between them. The 5900 Di Pro your talking about has a blue control box, the much latter Pro-sl has a black box.

The 5900/6000 Pro-sl came about in early 1990's.
I'm not sure when they dropped the 5900's but the 6000 evolved into the 6000 XL-Pro, then into the XL-Pro (No 6000)
Of these machines the 6000 XL-Pro and the XL-Pro are the most sought after and still bring a really good price if they are in really good condition.

Travis, not having used the Coinstrike, may I offer this. Monte (FMall guru) thinks highly of it. He is doing a GPAA show in Utah currently, but if you can get his opinion, perhaps that will help you.
