hello all, i found this small brass rough cast piece at an old homesite [1850's]. top pic shows a screw or rivet hole. the 2nd pic shows the side view. it's almost 2" long and about 3/4" wide, and heavy for it's size. any help would be appreciated! it's a little bent too. hh,
it's a cast brass foot off an old oil lamp! a couple of days ago was detecting in about the same area i found the whatzit in and found the 5" round oil lamp base - minus the missing foot. the other three were intact on the base. the piece has a hole the rivet used to attach the foot to the base with. another mystery solved! thanks, and hh,
hi steve, no, sorry, the base was pretty well mangled up and solid brass, so i scrapped it out last month. yeah, it was in terrible shape. it had the other 3 legs riveted on it. thanks, and hh,
