Does anyone know the disc range on the Beachhunter ID?

That's a very good question. I was out on the beach last night with my Beach Hunter ID, in the wet and dry sand only. But I got blown away by my friend with his Soverign GT. I was SO frustrated that I planted 2 coins, a penny and a dime, to test my detector's ability to detect. I planted both about 6 inches down and about 6 feet apart. In "discriminate" mode, I couldn't find either coin. In "all metal" mode I was able to locate the dime. Toggling back to "disc" now that I knew where it was, but no luck. The other coin is still out there, because I couldn't find it, even though I planted it. I was terribly tempted to plant my Beach Hunter. Personally, I think it is more of an expensive toy than a quallity metal detector. My 13-year-old son used the Minelab to cover the very same grid that I just did, and he easily located a few dollars in coins (and pull tabs . . . I didn't even beep when atop the pull tab).

In a nut shell, I wish I knew the range and depth ability for my Beach Hunter, too.

The lack of depth could be due to one or more things. Your detector could need a tune up, defective coil, ground balance, sensitivity, or threshold not adjusted properly. 10 to 12 inches are not uncommon for quarters and larger coins in sand. Discrimination? I have not checked that out but could be easy to do if you have another machine with VDI. Just take a known VDI target and see if the Beach Hunter sees it.

TRY PLANTING SOME TARGETS AND AND PLAYING WITH THE SETTINGS USE ALL METAL MODE,USE THE ID LIGHTS.GO OVER THE TARGETS AND TUNE THE SETTINGS.I GET GREAT DEPTH AND I HAVE PUT SMOKE ON MANY OTHER BEACH DETECTORS!! I HUNT WITH GUYS WHO USE EXCALS AND I THINK I GET MORE SMALL GOLD AND SAME OR BETTER DEPTH!! IS YOUR DETECTOR NEW??OR USED? IF YOU DON'T GET BETTER RESULTS SEND IT IN CAUSE SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT.I HAVE BEEN BANGING GOLD GOOD THE LAST COUPLE DAYS AND PULLING A LOT OF COIN VERY DEEP STUFF OFF LAND TOO!! IN NECK DEEP WATER THE MACHINE HAS BEEN GREAT ALSO I JUST PULLED GOLD OUT OF A LITTLE SWIMMING AREA A GUY WITH A OTHER DETECTOR SAID WAS CLEANED OUT!! I HOPE THINGS WORK OUT!! WISH YOUR B.H WOULD DO FOR YOU WHAT MINE DOES FOR ME!!
