I have seen different types but not like this one.

Here's one of the atillery sites I use. I'll try to get you more info.

Might be a Bormann Shell Underplug
(1) to a small powder booster or magazine (2). This powder then exploded, sending the flame through a hole in the fuze underplug (5) to the powder chamber of the projectile. The purpose of the brass or iron fuze underplug was to form a solid base of support for the soft metal fuze, which could have easily been damaged during firing.

Borman Fuse Underplug. I found it the same day you found the Parrot shell fuse. We need to go back there!

Yep, I remember know. We need to hit it before the ticks and chiggers come out. <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D">

Did you ever get and ID on that two looped brass thingy, that you found last Sun. I plan on going back out there this weekend.

The picture is a little blurred so here's what my fuse book say's
"Both North and South used Bormann underplugs with two spanner holes and a flash hole in the center.Examples have been found in both brass and iron. The three brass specimans at the top of the page are fairly uniform in diameter but vary considerably in thickness.. Measurements of the three iron underplugs in the second row are approximent due to rust, however they also vary in thickness."
