DOES ANYONE HUNT IN NON-MOTION MODE???

I have tried, but there are way too many signals. Can someone give advice using this mode? As I stated in an earlier post, I only use non-motion all metal mode to confirm iffy signals in motion all metal mode.

How do you use non-motion?

Lately I've been alternating between all-metal and motion. There have been some sites where I have found that the top soil goes down 10 to 12 inches; this to me means that some heavier targets may have settled deeper, barely out of the range of the coil. This is when and where I use the all-metal mode. Upon finding a target, I try and confirm by switching to Relics or Custom.

There have been occasions when in all-metal I've detected a good target that does not register in any other mode. This i when I dig a hole and stick the coil in, attempting to get a lock with TID.

While in all-metal mode, I have to work slower, keeping a constant eye on the graphic display. Although its undeniable that you get incredible depth in all-metal, I am still astounded at just how much depth and target ID accuracy I can get with the stock coil.

Using more the all-metal mode lately is simply the rsult of curiousity and the personal need to familiarize myself with this mode; the majority of the time, I find that all-metal can be overkill, as most of my best finds have been found between 3 and 9 inches deep.

I am now hunting in Relic mode, with Tone and Bi-Level, on my GTI.

I do some. Of course, with the ace 250, I have to
use the pinpoint mode to have non motion.
But it's often handy, and mine seems to go pretty
deep. I'll give to an example of what it can be
handy for.. Say if you had a metal pipe under the
ground that ran across a yard within tector depth..
The motion mode will bleep on it, but it's hard to
tell what the shape or length is.
You might get an idea on length if it keeps beeping
over the pipes length, but still doesn't really give
you much to go by.
But in the non motion mode, I can use it more like an
old style detector where the signal is constant and I can
tell where an object ends, it's length, appx shape,
etc..
Good for verifying a iffy target also.. Of course,
the "hot" object can still be a hot rock, nail, iron, rust,
etc.. I've had a few targets I never did find..
I think they were rusted nails, etc, and when I go to
dig them up, they pretty much fall apart like dirt..
Doesn't take a very large piece to set the machine off.
There is another 250 user on here that uses the pinpoint
non motion mode nearly all the time.. I think he even
put an on/off switch on the machine so he doesn't have
to hold the button in.
