Does anyone have

I've been thinking the same thing. I carry my DX1 in my apron pocket to reduce weight but the DFX weight(even though it's moderate) still takes a toll on the old arm and shoulder after a few hours.

Come on folks--show the picture!

OK - I solemnly promise not to make comments on the user. Maybe -:)

no one else posts here...I did receive one on another forum but small...I will try to copy and paste here if no one responds by tomorrow... Gregg

The kit from Whites, like the one in your photo is too bulky. The meter hangs out too far. I wouldn't want it on my chest because it would be it my way when digging. When it is on your hip the meter is harder to read. It is the only option unless modifications are done and I don't think you want to do that.

One mod gets rid of the S rod and shortens the meter mount. This makes the box more manageable. You still have to read the meter on your hip and work the toggle switch there also. I know where to find this picture on the modification forum.

The better mod needs an extra cable or a custom cable. With this mod the meter stays on the rod and only the box is on your hip. This has the advantage of having the toggle switch and meter in their normal position. I've seen this one on a instructional video on You Tube but I would have to look for this one. Rob

I put this hip mount on the Eagle II in 1989 and has been on there since. I have never broke a cable. I can wear this on my right side or left side by just moving the belts around. I hope this helps you.

I know I am not the only one who wanted to see this...thanks... I lik ethe idea that Rob said about the display remaining on the rod...instead of the box...

Check here to see a hip mounted MXT with the display still on the shaft. It works the same way for the DFX. Both have the same wires between the box and meter. Picture 8 shows the setup. I remember seeing Jimmy Sierra with a whites 6000 hipmount setup like this. Rob

It's really an easy job. There is a connector at each end of the meter wires. I don't have any trouble with the weight so I won't be doing the mod. By the way, he checked with Whites and because there is no work done on the PC board there is no effect on the warranty. The work can be reversed by reconnecting the meter wires that were cut. Rob
