Does Anyone have the Coiltek 9x14 coil yet.

Dan(NM)

I noticed Kellyco said that they would have them at the end of March just curious if they've shipped yet or not.

Dan, latest date I heard (from a different dealer) was late May now.......even though the Coiltek web site still says "On sale from 19 April 2017" so I would assume no one has one yet except the field testers.

Well looking at the shape of the coil it was meant to cover ground 9x14 separation not much better than the stock and since it's only 9 inches wide the stock coil will go deeper . Now minelab made all round coils till they came out with the 13x17 13 is better for depth than the 11 inch stock coil 13 being 2 inches wider that's where the depth comes from .

If they were going to make a big coil why didn't they make it 15 inches round like the wot that's 4 inches wider then the stock coil and deeper than the 13x17 if your going to swing a garbage can cover might as well get all the depth you can , the wot still hit's a dime at the size it is 15 inches is going to cover a lot of ground anyway so why swing a 13 inch coil when you could be swinging a 15 and going deeper . So I look at the 9x14 as a 9 inch coil for depth and coverage of a 14 inch coil .

These are not small coils for tight places and there not made for separation there made to cover large areas so what's wrong with a 15 inch round coil come on coiltek. sube

I dont know why you think it wont be deeper just because of the shape than the standard coil? It wont have to process nearly the same amount of material/trash as a round coil the same size. So you should get less coil shut down which affects depth. Depth is affected in many ways. People used to love the Explorer IIs standard coil over the SEs and those coils used to be prized....... then the 12" SEF came out which changed things. You got both depth and coverage. Coils have come a long way..... you get some pretty huge coils now days that handle EMI and minerals better....... and can run more sensitivity. This is a wait and see for me.

What's the weight of this Coiltek 9X14?
34.7 oz without the cover .Better buy a set of wheels for her heavier than the 13x 17 should be a good water coil .

I only have the stock coil and the only size other than that would be a 8 x 5 give me good coverage and separation and good depth that's what I need. and that's what's lacking is a mid size coil 10 x 5 is still only giving me 10" separation anyways each to there own but none of them are filling a gap for me.

Here' the reason why I don't think it well be deeper 9x14 why not make it 3 x 14 it well see less ground get into tight spots separate better and weigh less . Because you can't get depth with out having it wider but this would make a hell of a clad sweeper .

#s on the 9x14 give 126 for surface area #s on the stock coil 11x11 give 121 about a wash they see the same amount of ground so noise from the ground well be similar .The 9x14 well cover more ground but the stock coil well be deeper 9 against 11 2 inches you can't have both unless they come up with a way to get the coil more sensitive to the return signal .

The 9x14 would make a great water coil 34.7 oz should sink like a rock and have better coverage than the stock but less depth but who knows well have to wait and see what the depth is on a $400.00 dollar coil.

As amberjack said something between the 6 and 11 or go all out and make a depth demon 15 inch round dd . sube

Exactly what I'm looking at it for.....a water coil. It should make control of the machine easier in the water as well as pinpointing. I already use a strap/bungee on the wet and dry so a few ounces won't matter there. As long as it works and is truly water proof (unlike the first coiltek 5x10's) it will pay for itself in no time in the water.

Hope you are right Cliff. Once you get it let me know and ill help compare targets. A little more weight out there wont hurt...... and like you told me, you wont be stepping on that big ole 17" out there lol. Solid coils in the water move like a Frisbee.

Sube..... explain to me why you believe you have to have a round wide DD coil to get depth? If anything..... in minerals and trash you will loose depth. A round DD coil will take in/process approximately 7 gallons of soil and everything in it. Targets will cause coils shut down..... much like squeezing a sponge. Less soil/targets to process causing this coils shut down the better. As far as 3" wide..... im not sure how close the send portion of the coil can be from the receive without interference.

Got mine yesterday.

Petey,
Very interested in hearing your opinions about coil...especially depth comparison (in ground) to stock.

good luck and hh

Got one from Kellyco today. Going to give it a try tomorrow and will post impressions...
