Elton

ie: Nickles, dimes, Wheat cents, Copper cents memorial, Zinc cents, Silver Dimes, and Quarters if different than clad.
Thanks all I appreciate it if you would post up the Numbers

Elton --

Try the attached file, which I got from PryorCreekJoe...

It's not bad, though for me a copper memorial penny is more like 03/28 to 04/28, and wheaties are more variable, but maybe 06/27...and a zincoln is 07/24 to 07/25.

try this as well /http://www.findmall.com/read.php?10,922673 magic mans are pretty accurate. Keep in mind these are air tested or shallow readings. Deeper coins may vary... but mostly the ferr reading because of targets and minerals around the coin. Ive dug V nickels that hit in the lower right corner Ive even dug silver next to iron that will read more iron with an occasional correct digital reading. The digits have their place when learning ..... once learned dont let them be the deciding factor.... listen to the tone ALWAYS. Believe it or not the more targets you dig the more good targets you find. To often we try to justify NOT digging a target.

dewcon is absolutely right. The numbers are good as a guide, but there are alot of "good" targets whose FE numbers are much higher than they should be (like dew says, the conductive numbers are usually more stable, and in a range you'd expect). If the coins are deep, if they are adjacent to other targets/trash, etc. -- the FE numbers can be much higher than you'd expect. I'm beginning to get to where, like dew said, if the target sounds good, is repeatable from at least 3 if not 4 directions, and sounds "coin-sized," I dig it. Yes, that results in bent rusty nails, small rusted bolts with attached washers, etc. -- but it also results in occasional goodies, too.

I do understand it's just a guide.. But it is a very helpful guide. I printed both out and will attempt to size them for pocket reference till I learn the Id's

Thank again..

Elton.... like on most detectors iron tends to move.... unless its really big iron close to the surface. So once you center the target see if it repeats in the same pinpointed area. I understand having been a Whites guy for many years about the digital screen. I started off learning the digital then the smartscreen and now by tones. Its a process you tend to go thru as part of the learning curve. If you are digging iron and its really deep keep diggin it. Wont be long until you will have a good feel for the tone much like hot rocks in a field.... the key is you are listening to the weak deep signals more than the louder more shallow ones.

I'm getting a lot better with the Se now. I have started to switch screens as I get a target ..Just so I can learn where the target reads on the smartscreen.

The 18 IM is working for me better than the -22. And I am starting to hear the good targets break through the Iron Null. No Silver yet, but a few Wheat's that were near iron..

One other note.. Manual Sensitivity seems to work better in this trashed out area too. ???? Sounds are better, and some do not disappear like they do when in auto 26 ? Anyone care to comment on that feature Manual versus Semi Auto setting.
