Does anyone have the 15x18 SEF coil?????

I am thinking of purchasing the 15x18 SEF coil to hunt some wide open farmlands plus some local fairgrounds and football fields.. I was wondering how it picked up on the small coins.. Lime dimes or Half Dimes????? i heard the bigger the coil,, you can actually miss he small stuff... I'm not to worried about the depth,,,, I just like the idea of detecting 18 inches of ground in one sweep:detecting:I read the reviews on Kellyco website,,, and they say it will perform wonderful on the small stuff... I just want some other opinions!!!! the only bad thing i heard was, that it was like swinging a brick!!!!! lol
Thank you so much

Derrell

You might want to go with the slightly smaller 12 x 15 - I have it and it's not that tough to swing, but I'm 6' 4"....definitely covers a lot of ground too.

Do a search for Joan Allen. They are in the UK distributor. They have field test reports that will tell you what you are looking for. In a nut shell, the reports indicate you will get better depth with your 10x12 on smaller targets like dimes. So, take what you have and keep hitting it hard.

The coil is fairly heavy. I have had my 15' x 18' for about 5 months. When hooked up to an Explorer, the only way to overcome the weight issue is with a bungee system. I detect the beach and have not used any other coil since I have purchased the SEF. I highly recommend it. John

Thanks John!!!
I appreciate the comment!!!! How much does it weigh??????? And where did you get the bungee system at???? thanks a lot

With all that weight lifting you are going to do.....I better not say ANYTHING about the 60+ degree weather here!

I just put the coil on the scale and it weighs 34 ounces ( 2 pounds - 2 ounces). That is with the coil cover. I use the bungee system sold by Doc. Go to the Findmall Yank-Aussie forum and click on the banner for Doc's Place. Get the SWINGY THINGY. It will make your detector feel like it is floating in air. You can detect much longer with less fatigue.

You may think the weight of the coil does not sound like much. But keep in mind that it is 18" long. I had to get the tall man lower shaft in order to get the coil out in front of me and not step on it. The weight of the detector, plus this coil sticking out at that distance, means bungee time.

Hope this helps you, John

That makes that coil sound bigggggg!!!!!...to step on it.......I could just picture that!...thanks for cracking me up ,I needed that..That"s as good as bryce when he said ....is that for detecting a small town......

Thanks John!!!!
That really helps!!!! thank you so much!!!!!! take care and good luck!!!!
