Does anyone else suffer from this affliction ?

I call it "delusional sight finds" and it's becoming more acute. What happens is no matter where I'm walking I'm always scanning the ground and quite often spot a "good find" on the surface only to pick it up and find out it's not whatever I thought it was. Spotted a nice gold hoop earring yesterday and picked it up to show my 16 yr old son. All he could do was shake his head and mumble " it isn't anything ". It wasn't, but to my credit it sure LOOKED like gold jewelry. Just wondering if this is common or if I need to seek professional help.

Hi Scott, I pick up alot of foil, thinking it is something good. I always look on the ground for things, i have found lot of coins and some paper money. Wife and I like to walk parking lots, she has found a 2 nice rings, she is better at rings than i am, just a woman i guss. Keep up and you will find some good stuff. Flintstone

I haven't had that problem in any severe way, but I find I'm seeing more "whatever" since I started swinging a coil regularly. I just plain pay more attention to the ground right along.

I'm able to spot items 8-10 feet away, of course at that distance I can't trust my VDI....

I find mostly zincs but my wife recently found a 100 dollar bill. A few months ago she found an engagement ring with the wedding ring in a parking lot.

I was afraid of this. Apparently I need professional help. See you on the outside !

If you know a local mailman who walks a route just ask him or her and it might surprize you as lots lost entering and exitting ones home....Don't think its an affliction just a reflex action from swinging especially if you put a lot of hours in...heck found a dollar bill last night walking the dog..

Wife has stopped making fun of me when I pick up foil and tabs when we go for walks ... so I won't have to dig it later. But sometimes she still shakes her head. She is looking now too ... she spotted a ring on a walk a couple of months ago ... one of the modern cheap mood rings; but a ring. :clapping:
