Yeah..(sigh) Been snowed in so long its nice to hear any beep...Also Gold Rush and Bering Sea Gold and all the rest...This summer will see a lot of new diggers out there we will have to contend with. Sociologists have studied what men do when they are unemployed, and they USED to go fishing, something about a primal urge to feel they are contributing to the Family as a hunter gatherer. I bet now they will gravitate to metal detecting from all these shows and whatnot. Yes, Garrett scored, intentionally or not with these guys using their equipment...you cant buy this type of air! Also saw some of the Gold Rush guys sitting around a fire wearing Garrett hats, excellent imbedded advertising. Lots of time it costs nothing to imbed your product on shows such as these, just gotta get there before the cameras start rolling.

No...just them, I am not fond of this show, but it sort of grows on you if your not careful, like a wart,... like I said, not being able to hunt myself, any old port in a storm. There IS a ton of non-detectorists watching it though, favorable reviews too, so it might just get a third season. The worse the economy gets, the more interest any kind of treasure hunting becomes as well as making moonshine or any other "get rich quick" ideas...and consequently the tougher it will be on us.

Must be something in the water they are drinking. Anybody who acts crazier than me is nuts anyway. I just wish I had their energy and could run and jump like they do. I've got enthusiasm for dirt fishing, but don't hoot and holler and have any crazy language. Except when I went to the river and it was cold and I thought I locked the keys up in the car. I got a little creative with my English, no profanity of course and called AAA. I did mention to myself that I felt mentally challenged and might be a dirty, low-down crook and might qualify to run for political office, the worse curse words I use. Then while I was waiting, I took my chest waders off and there was the key. Thank goodness I found it and cancelled the service call. I would have been way-embarrassed if the wrecker dude had come 20 miles one way to help me out and I had the key in my chest waders. I thought I had put it in my pocket and it had fell into my waders. My spare shoes were in the trunk and I was going to wait until he got the car unlocked to take off the waders, but got tired of setting around in them and bingo. At least they (diggers) seem to work with archaeologists to preserve some history on some of their shows.
At least they don't holler boom..baby.... and scare the heck out of you like the ex-wrestler does on his show. He sure negotiates some fantastic prices for what he finds. I watch both these shows to remind me how not to act in public with my metal detecting hobby.
One show I do enjoy that recently started is Lords of War. These guys put stuff into auction and get some unreal prices. One guy put a silver bar from the shipwreck Atocha into the auction and got a little bit over $70,000 bucks.
Losing the car key in my waders didn't upset me as much as it did when the doctor told me I had Chester Drawer Disease. What's that doc, I never heard of that before. He said it's a condition caused by a combination or gravity and age, but basically: Your chest has fell into your drawers....lol

I watch it to get tips on the AT Pro but think the two guys are kinda childish.

The show is geat for business/metal detector sales I imagine
but there are enough of us out in the field already. I suspect that
when people see mdING AIN'T easy, they will be taking them to pawn shops or
shopw up in yard sales. Thats good for us.
