and it's just as I suspected, I've bought a Bounty Hunter disguised in Fishers clothes!!
Sorry if this sounds dumb.... but, is that a bad thing??

there cheap, but there upper models arent to bad, the f4 is like a discovery[BH] updated, better electronics, faster target recovery speed, and the audio varies according to target depth, f4 also has a better rod assembly

Not sure just yet, I've only had one short hunt in a tot lot with it at lunch yesterday. It did find some coins but I want to be fair and give it a good try-out this weekend before I say anything, one way or the other. I've been asked to compare it to a Garrett Ace 250 and that's what I will use as a benchmark. I need the frequency to do that and evidently they are about the same, depending on which one it might be by those posts.

I've got a hunting buddy that uses the F 75 and had an Edge before that and I've seen him pull up some excellent goodies with them.

Well, it does work, at least in the one little hunt I had with it, but not really enough time to make a definitive judgement of that sort yet.

It must have a tolerance for a set area of KHZ.................Low end and high end... So which one is best.and if you were at a club hunt could you change coils and eliminate some of the interference from other detectors. I would imagine that most machines can tolerate a little different frequency sets..And am fairly certain not all coils are exact on frequency and it wouldn't be that big a deal if it still worked... Remember the electronics powers it, but the coil wrap determines what exact frequency is being transmitted..............and that can fluctuate with slightly different electronics power up..even batteries can effect the out put. Thats why they use regulators to keep things in as close as possible control of power.... To much can burn out things to little can under power but there will always be a little difference.

Yes it sounds like the new Fishers have a lot of Bounty Hunter traits.............
If you think about it..it makes sense..they have all that Bounty Hunter stuff and am sure they will utilize it..After all they have to make money, and they are entitled. I am sure their main goal is profit. It should be, and if it's not they will soon be out of business.............Fisher went down the pike and they only added a few high end items before they sold out. In fact a great deal of Fishers detectors still worked on the basic principles introduced in the early 1990's.at least it seems First Texas is trying to get new ideas out there on the market...........F75-F2 F4 and others....From what i read they all seem to work fairly well......Remember we are a limited bunch of people........So to generate sales some things may be repackaged and an interest must be regenerated...over and over...IE: CZ from Fisher , come on they were all the same just named different. New icons etc etc but really the same..no matter what the hype said or says....
Take the T-2 and the F-75 not a great deal of difference if in fact any... I think the f75 may just be a refined T2 without some of the little problems...So it's a good thing.....Look at the Tesoro uMax units most are about the same maybe a little different frequency maybe a extra control.but basics the same. Look at Whites Prizms they are all about the same just a little different controls or features but again basics all the same. Thats my take check it out for yourself.. You just have to be careful what you buy and make sure it's in fact a different machine and not a repackaged machine.

Detectors haven't really changed that much in the past 25 years or so - just added a lot of gimmicks and fancy features. I've been swinging one since 1963 and have seen them all. and used most of them Back in those days there were probably a 100 different detectors on the market. I've got pics of a bunch of them. Everybody who had a remote knowledge of electronics and spare space in their garage or basement was pumping out detectors. Prices ran from $18.95 and up. I had one of the first Bounty Hunters ( BFO ), when they were made in Oregon, and it wouldn't find a cannon ball in a tub of oatmeal. :)
