will the upper shaft for an explorer II fit in an xs? Gotta know soon, thanks.

I have read on the forums many times that it does fit. However, there is an 800 number for Minelab and they can confirm this.

Yes, the EXP II's shaft will fit the EXP XS.
It is cut at a 45 degree angle which gives you an additional 1" inside the control housing. This makes the unit fell more rigid and less flex.

Forgot to mention something. The II's upper shaft has an improved shaft clamp. On the XS, the piece under the leaver is a hard black plastic and on the II, it is a softer red / orange plastic that grips and holds the shaft better.
You may want to consider swapping the red one from your new II's shaft with the black one on your XS housing. This will help to keep the shaft from working out of the control housing over time.
