Does anybody have any feedback on the Waterproof Greyghost phones.

I'd like to hear some honest opinions about the phones, pro's, con's, complaint or praises, thanks.

I didn't care for the gray ghost phone that is made for the ctx. But the the grey ghost that is made for the infinium works a lot better. Also the phones that Harold makes are very good. Look up dewcon4414 write up on Harold phones. I am thinking about getting a pair in a few months.

IF you intend on diving or snorkeling much id get the yellows or GGA. I personally, dont believe any other phones would hold up to that for long in the salt water. For me the GG varied in tones from set to set......must be the silicone used to seal them which does muffle them a bit. I have to tell you Harold makes a pretty good set of phones. The use of speakers like on land phones really increase the volume and crispy tones. They seem to stand up to getting wet. Id even use these for dirt hunting over a lot of the others ive used. Im not that keen on the volume control on the GGA..... just not needed and can freeze if you dont use it.

The water proof Gray Ghost for the CTX was redesigned and is now available. They are a lot louder without tweaks.I believe that Gray Ghost is now owned by Carter Pennington and Ron Deghetto. They purchased the company from Gary Storm.

Jessie, do you know how long ago that was? Thanks.

I have a pair of the waterproof GG for ctx and they are superior to the regular ones. I can actually hear the threshold! My connector cam undone and I had to send it back for repair and the turn around was very quick. My advice is it to wrap the bottom part of the connector with tape so it does not unscrew.

Sometimes they confuse the GGA with the other one having the limiter that people were removing. Interesting information. So when did that happen and whats different? I know i helped Joe (ole beach nut) test several pairs when Barry NY was doing them. Really badly sealed back then. He tested a lot of silicon and hot glue lol. Then Gary took over and they got a good silicon type seal.... which kind of changed the tone/volume.

I had a pair of CTX Grey ghosts and they did not work well for me . Had the volume up all the way and could hardly hear the threshold. I wandered how many good beach targets I missed. If you want a really good pair get Harolds headphones. They are great and less money than the GG . I got a pair and I love them. The response is quick and you will have to turn down your volume. Harold knows what we need because he's been detecting for a long time. You can get them wet ,even snorkel . I don't hunt underwater , max is waist high. I wanted something waterproof that if I get hit with a rogue wave I'll be okay. I hope this helps!

I meant to say I now have a pair of Grey Ghost Amohibians for CTX. They are superior to the underwater Grey Ghost for CTX.

anyone tried waterproof bone phones? I don't hunt in the water but maybe they are worth a try? if just wanting to block out surf noise in the wet sand a pair of gel muffs attached to your fav phones does wonders for blocking out the surf.

Ill give a thumbs up on Harolds Phones too. You do have to turn the volume down if you have good hearing. Another thing that can improve you being able to hear with dive headphones is to plug those drain holes if you arent getting um wet.

Not sure about and upgrade on the GGAs. last upgrade i know of was Gary took them over from Barry NY and properly sealed them. I did see a new GG phone on his site with blue tooth for you phone...... obviously not for our use. The GGU had a limiter which reduced their volume, but i think people solved that and just removed it. People putting together a pair for the CTX has to know you have to use 3 prongs (2 wires....... with one soldered to a prong and one soldered to two prongs) on that CTX connector or you really get reduced volume.

I have a pair of the gg phones, I have to turn the volume way up to use them. I am not impressed at all.

Ron did say Gary Storm will retire in July so they have purchased detectorpro. Gary has made one heck of an impact on water machines. He was the guy behind the vision of the ML Excalibur and then his detectorpro machines and phones. I wish Ron and company the best and hope to see more from detectorpro. Gary....... enjoy that retirement buddy.

GGA wiring :-
if you are looking at the pins on the back of the connector plugged in to the machine, you would connect the red wire to the first pin to the left of top centre. you then need to jump the 2nd and 3rd pins to the left of the first one together and connect the black wire to either of those two pins you just jumped together. this is for GGA.

hope this makes sense.

I know.... I make mine. But some I know didnt figure that out and if u connect to just that second pin u get volume... but low. Still dont understand why they put all the pins right there together...makes solding interesting.

just to make it hard for us to get connectors  so we have to buy the yellow ones

was just putting the wiring info out there for general info someone may need it..
