shawnv(or)

New member
a drum like sound around some targets. I have just finished my first battery so I am very new and trying to dig only the best repeatable from two direction targets. My total count on my first battery is 46 clad, 1 Italian coffee token??, 4 rusty screwcaps, 1 pencil eraser, 6 pulltabs modern, 1 Beavertail pulltab, 2 zipper pulls.
Anyway today I got out about 1.5 hours and i kept hearing this drum beat sound around some targets. Can anybody help?
Thanks Shawn

What are your settings such as do you run conduct or ferrous tones, what do you have iron mask set on and is there a lot of iron where you are detecting.

I think that sound you are hearing are from large or real thick pieces of iron(steel)that is close to the coil.I have heard to a few times, but I'm not a pro by any means!:minelab::detecting:

I have had 'overload' signals and that may be what your hearing - if so look at your screen - when this happened to me the word 'Overload' appeared on the screen. This can mean a fair sized iron object very shallow or a large iron object deeper.

Hope this helps - -

Shawn......I am going from memory since I haven't been out since October due to weather but I believe this could be with the setting of auto or manual sensitivity. My explorer made the same sound kinda like a drum thud. Good luck and let us know what you come up with.....Lil Ben

I am going back there as soon as the snow that is currently falling has melted away. I am now wondering if it could have been an underground conduit????

In my opinion what you are hearing is the "warble" the EX makes when it is too close to a large metalic object. Most of the time your hear this the screen should say "OVERLOAD". If this is not the case, I would guess you are hearing the POP from a piece of trash or iron. Hope this helps. HH
