Does a piece of jewelry made from found rings qualify as a new find???

I'm having a sand dollar pendant made from some 14K rings I found. my friend Doug and I compete every year to see who finds the most gold.
I told him this should qualify as several finds because it will have the gold from 5-6 rings in it, weighing 3/4 oz.
So, do I get credit, or not?
( actually, I'm just twisting his tail a bit.)
I'll post a picture of the finished sand dollar next week.
