Does a Coil Cover Reduce Effectiveness??

Only if you get materialized sand or soil inside of it. They need to be removed and cleaned regularly. I choose not to use them because of the little extra weight and maintenance. I haven't ever wore a coil out. I used a Whites 3900 for 14 years with the same coil. I sold it for $90.00 in great working condition.
 
NOPE it just protects your coil investment.
