... if so, which one (s)?
I've been using Skype. It's real easy to download and use. Like most video messaging services it will also work with or without a web cam and allows you to call a cell phone or land line from your PC or laptop for very nominal cost per minute .... like to the USA to UK or UK to the USA for 2 cents a minute... as well as to most European countries. Check it out at skype.com.
As an alternative / back up, I've just set up with MSN Live as well. Primary will still be Skype.
Skype also allows a conference audio "chat" with up to 9 other Skype users all at the same time. Can't do an audio and video conference, just audio ... due to bandwidth I suspect.
The last time I went detecting in the UK it was nice to be able to see and talk to my wife every night for free via my laptop to the home PC. We also use Skype to talk with and see our out of town children and grand children.
