Do you switch modes

Started trying this to see if it helps in IDing a target. Start with relic mode and iron audio tone on my Pro, switch to coin and jewelry and then even prospecting to check iron probability. I do this on the bouncy, iffy signals. That's the nice feature of the MXT, knobs allow quick setting adjustments.

[size=large]i'm not qualified enough to know for sure but the pro is suppose to be getting more depth in relic as a bonus. i think what you've pointed out may be one of the better selling points of the pro. very versatile.

I switch to prospecting sometimes on a large deep target just to check it. I still dig it. I run Relic in 1 tone and listen to my threshold breaks and readings on the tid. I dig all deep targets. dont care really if signal is steady or breaking up. Find lots of stuff on edge that has a breaking signal one way and great the other.

I switch over to Cand J sometimes to see if it will id the target any different than relic.

during hunting normally I don't, but sometimes I cover the area for a second time using a different mode

I have been switching back and forth between relic (1 tone) and C/J (tones on) since starting to use the MXT Pro but for a different reason. Previously, I hunted in relic/alternate mode (trigger forward) with my standard MXT and became very familiar and comfortable with analyzing the signal characteristics of the single high tone across the entire VDI spectrum. When I started using the multi-tones in C/J with the pro I had a hard time discerning good "sounding" targets from bad in any but the highest tone (which is very similar to the high tone in relic/alternate on the std MXT) I suddenly wasn't finding nickels anymore and I knew that had to change. I started switching back and forth to compare signals and it has really helped me start recognizing good signals down in the lower tones. Unless it's really trashy I always run my disc at 2 max and often lower so I have the entire range of tones to sort through. Being able to set up my Pro to mimic my Std MXT setup has proved invaluable and another example of the MXT's incredible versatility which, as widebody stated, is one of it's greatest aspects.
