Like only your finds from private hunting spots? Just wondering if anybody has posted something really good found in a local park, etc. only to find that same place worked over like nobody's business next time they go?

I post the finds that I like no matter where I find them. I do not post clad. Heck some of my favorite are not even coins or rings, Beale.

I do this too but over the last year I've begun to question myself on this one..

I do not post pictures vry much , because it is so agravating to get them on here. They have to be so small.

I post pic's of old coins and other things that I find at parks and schools, but I don't give any info that would let anyboby know where I was. I learned that the hard way a few years a go.

two answers......

One, I usually only post pics of those finds that are key date or rare, regardless of where I find them.

Two, I don't consider any of the areas I hunt to be "private hunting spots". Maybe "secret" hunting spots, but not private. The reason no one else is hunting them is because they haven't studied the local history and recognized the potential. It isn't that they aren't able to hunt it. They're just too lazy to know it exists! Honestly, all of the places I hunt "could" be accessed by anyone who went through the process of gaining permission to hunt. But like I said, most people aren't willing to put in the time it takes to locate these sites. Let alone get PROPER permission to hunt it. I don't want to come off as being a nutcase, but I spend hundreds of hours each year, combing through local histories, visiting the museums and library, and going through old newspapers for leads. Some of them have paid off and some haven't.......yet!

Whether "public or private" I could count the number of times I've been turned down (in the past 38 years) on one hand. Unfortunately, one of my favorite spots suddenly became "off limits" to me a couple years ago. Apparently, someone else saw me detecting this old fair ground and thought he and his buddies could come in with their detectors without asking the owner for permission. While they were out digging in the timber, the owner came by, didn't recognize them, and called the Sheriff. These detecting bandits told the owner and the Sheriff that they had seen someone else detecting there the week prior and thought it would be OK. Long story short, the site is now "off limits" to anyone with a detector. And the owner has instructed the Sheriff to arrest anyone caught trespassing. How does that make me feel? Honestly, if I knew who these detecting bandits were, I'd have a little talk with them.:punch: To this day, everytime I drive by that timber, I have visions of Seated quarters and $5 gold pieces just waiting for me and my X-Terra. I'm still friends with the owner and have hopes of getting back in there someday. But for the time being, it is still off limits. HH Randy

Defiantly . I only post those that I think would interest others. Which is why I haven't posted much in the last few months.

i post all my finds that in my personal opinion i like. sometimes finds that i like and keep are considered junk to others. sometimes i dont even find one coin and come out happy with what i've found.
