It is about the size of a silver dollar, and the back has a flat thin bar running across it like to slide on something. The bar runs up and down instead of side to side.
 
The size and construction sort of resembles a horse rosette, but it seems like an odd motif for that use. Given its size, it might have been a belt buckle.
