Do you have a fisher cz6? I need your help.

Please email your response to me rather than posting here as i am posting this message on sevrall boards.

I was given a fisher cz6 that had some water damage to it and with a copy of the schematics, an osciliscope and a friend with an engineering degree in electronics we are 99% sure we have replaced all the bad components. During the duration of our work, many of the trimmer pots inside have been adjusted while testing the unit. I did take pictures before any of this took place as a reference but dont know if some of these had been adjusted by someone before me trying to get it to work. I am hoping to find someone who has a fisher cz6 to remove it from the external box, unplug the 2 boards that are sandwiched together and take a few pictures of the trimmer pots on the component side of the board so i can try and set mine back up and determine if mine is working or if i need to replace another component or two.

I have invested many hours into this project and am hoping to have a great detector when finished.

Thank you

Mark

It appears you have the electrical background and where a schematic was obtained is a mystery as companies will not give them out as they want there on tech's inside them..A big problem with this unit was the coil connector to the box and perhaps all is well except that. In any case you may get it working, but will it be up to spec's. You are comended for your attempt to repair same , but a trip to the factory may not prove too costly to repair and it will be working up to complete efficiency when returned. I always ask for an estimate before repair and of course these tech's work on these units every day.Goodluck in your quest and when putting back together make sure the rubbers that keep it weather resisitant are not crimped as your first trip even in a light rain may have you back to square one...

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately by the time i get a quote it will cost me close to 100 dollars in shipping, taxes, and customs... And that is before they do anything...The local place here in canada is going to charge me 85 dollars an hour to look at it and wont give me a quote. I dont have alot of money to throw around and have been able to replace the 7 or 8 ics that tested as failed for less than 25 dollars. I would love to have a good working detector but just need to do the final set up of the pots to as close to factory as i can and then do a final test. I realize that some of them might not be exactly the same but it will give me a starting point at least.

Thanks for your comments

I understand now being out of U.S....Make sure that coil connector is tight to the box as it was a big problem with the original CZ6, thus the CZ6A was born with a new connector...
