The VX3 gets better depth than the DFX.I had the spectra v3 when it first came out to be honest it was a little much for me in the way of using the menus,my question is do you guys think the VX3 and the DFX will get the same depth,of course in the same soil conditions .The price is so close to each other one just has to wonder .I have been THing for over 25 years now mainly using Whites and garrett metal detector and on the market for a new detector. How do you guys think the VX3 will fare on a salt water beach I know it has a beach program ....Thanks for the help Guys.....

The VX should go a little deeper than the DFX and even if it did not, look at all of the new advances built in the VX that is not available on the DFX for a little bit more $. Three frequencies, wireless headphones and color screen alone is worth the extra money IMHO.

I just got a vx3 and sold my dfx. Prelimanery testing in my soil conditions shows that the vx3 is deeper than the dfx. You also have to remember that the vx3 has 3 frequencies , a color display and it's bigger, easier to see,, and it remembers your settings so that you don't have to save them in custom programing until you change batteries. The price difference in my opinion is worth getting the vx3. I'm liking it very much. HH. Al

I absolutly love my v3i on the beach. I also loved my DFX. Im definitely finding more with the V3I.
